Portland, Maine, October 19, 2009 — Eco-active gear manufacturer, Atayne, announced the recent launch of its custom apparel program enabling retailers, colleges, events, and other organizations to purchase Atayne gear with customized colors and graphics.

Bowdoin College, a nationally renowned college of liberal arts and science in Brunswick, Maine, is the first to offer custom Atayne gear at retail. Bowdoin students, alumni, and fans can now buy Atayne’s Bowdoin-branded sports tees at the Bowdoin Bookstore or through the bookstore’s Web site. The high-performance shirts are made from 100% recycled material–65% cotton, 35% polyester. The heather-gray shirts are imprinted with Bowdoin’s polar bear mascot and choice of graphics for the following Bowdoin team sports: Baseball, basketball, crew, cross country, fencing, field hockey, football, golf, hockey, lacrosse, rugby, sailing, skiing, soccer, softball, squash, swimming, tennis, track, volleyball, water polo, and women’s basketball. With unisex sizes, the shirts retail for $15.99.

“We’re proud to introduce Atayne custom apparel at the Bowdoin Bookstore,” said Jeremy Litchfield, Atayne’s founder and pacesetter and 1999 Bowdoin graduate. “Our high-performance, environmentally-conscious shirts are a great alternative to the classic cotton, college tee shirt,” said Litchfield. “And I love Bowdoin sports. Go Bears!” exclaimed Litchfield.

Atayne will donate 10% of gross revenue from the sale of Bowdoin-branded Atayne gear to the college’s sustainability efforts, and each shirt comes with a plantable paper tag embedded with wildflower seeds–ensuring Atayne’s custom program will grow, literally.
