Austin, Texas (December 16, 2014) – Outdoor retailer, Austin Canoe and Kayak (ACK), a division of MSP Holdings, LLC, today announced donations totaling $8,000 were made to the San Antonio and Hill Country chapters of Heroes on the Water using money raised by its Kayak Angler Tournament Series (KATS) in 2014. Heroes on the Water is a 501c3 organization that serves veterans from all branches of the United States military by providing healing and rehabilitating kayak fishing outings that are physically and mentally therapeutic.

Half of the funds, which were raised through event registrations and raffle ticket sales at Operation Angler Strength’s Charity Tournament in partnership with the organization’s founder, Mike Ryan, were donated to the San Antonio Chapter. Now in it’s second year, the event attracted seventeen anglers in the Veterans Division and another 57 entrants in the Fisherman Division.

The remaining $4,000, which was raised through raffle tickets sold throughout the 2014 tournament series, was donated to the newly founded Hill Country Chapter of Heroes on the Water in order to kickstart their local efforts.

“With this generous donation and support we’ve received from the great people at ACK we are hoping to purchase a trailer so we can go mobile and service more veterans throughout Austin and the Hill country” said Kody Wilson, Founder of the new Hill Country Chapter of Heroes on the Water. “Without businesses like ACK and their generous support we couldn’t share our passion for the outdoors and kayak fishing.”

“KATS is our way of engaging with and showing our commitment to the Kayak Angling community,” said, Kristian Kolflat, KATS Tournament Director. “We have made raising funds for charities like Heroes on the Water a core mission of the KATS program and are committed to continuing this practice in the future.”
