Reno, NV –Aventura Clothing recently announced a partnership with Uncommon Threads, a “boutique” style clothing program where survivors of domestic violence and women in need receive styling services and new clothes. As part of their partnership, Aventura will be donating new clothing quarterly to this unique boutique that gives women the opportunity to be outfitted to raise self-confidence and feel empowered in their daily lives.

Uncommon Threads was founded by The Midlife Fashionista blogger, Susan Kanoff, who drew upon her background as a wardrobe stylist and social worker to launch the organization. Women who visit Kanoff’s boutique have been referred by a social worker, doctor, church, social service organization or a therapist. For a $10 donation, that can easily be waived if the woman cannot afford it, Uncommon Threads offers these women everyday clothing that makes them feel beautiful and raise self-esteem.

“What we wear can have a huge impact on how we feel about ourselves and how others view us,” says Kanoff. “My goal is to give struggling women a new look that will inspire self-confidence.”

Some of Kanoff’s customers need that little something extra, and for those ladies, she offers a stylist service, free of charge, in addition to the outfits they receive.

The partnership builds upon Aventura’s long legacy of prioritizing people and planet over profit. In 2005, the first collection debuted with the aim of “helping the Earth, one garment at a time,” and featured organic, bio-based and sustainable fabrics. In 2014, the brand extended their vision with the launch of its brother brand Ecōths, a men’s casual lifestyle clothing company that continued the use of eco-friendly fabrics and took stewardship one step further by donating 3 meals to food banks across the country for every garment sold. Today both brands create eco-friendly clothing for women and men living active lifestyles.

“Our goal has always been to create clothes that enable women to feel good about looking great,” says Tom Williamson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Aventura. “We are excited to play a part in helping Susan’s dream become a reality and assisting these women who are trying to get back into the workforce and become a part of society again.”
