Reno, NV – Aventura, a family-run women’s lifestyle clothing company that is focused on being thoughtful in everything they do, is proud to show their continued support to the outdoor industry by supporting talented design students.
A sponsor of the 2011 Summer Outdoor Retailer’s Project OR, Aventura donated $2500 to the winning school, San Francisco State, and gave the winner, Amy Dorie, a design internship and a $5,000 cash prize. During her internship at Aventura, Dorie designed 5 pieces that will be a part of the Spring ’13 collection from Aventura.
While at the 2012 Winter Outdoor Retailer show, Aventura met Project OR contestant, Kelsee Morefield, and quickly learned of her design skills. When a position opened this spring, Aventura knew that Morefield would be a perfect fit. Morefield, originally from Burns, OR, is graduating from University of Idaho in May with a degree in Clothing, Textiles and Design. She will start her job with Aventura in May with her first day of work being at the Spring ’13 sales meeting.
“We are very excited to have Kelsee join our team,” says Tom Williamson VP of Marketing. “It is great to be able to support these young, aspiring designers by giving them opportunities to learn and grow with Aventura.”
“When Tom called to tell me about the position, I was thrilled to hear from him,” states Morefield. “Of all the brands I met while walking the floor at the show, I was most excited about Aventura and their team.”
Morefield will be assisting in garment fit and construction with the design team, working with the quality assurance team and many other tasks within the design department at Aventura.
