(Golden, Colo.) – Big City Mountaineers (BCM) and Backbone Media announce a public relations partnership in which Backbone will assist the non-profit organization in promoting its Backpacker Magazine’s Summit For Someoneâ„¢ benefit climbs and recreational mentoring programs for at-risk teens.

“I’m excited to have Backbone on board to add another dimension to our marketing and public relations goals,” says Mark Godley, Executive Director of BCM. “Our goals involve taking Backpacker Magazine’s Summit For Someoneâ„¢ fundraising program and the youth program these events fund to a much broader audience, and Backbone is the ideal partner to help accomplish this.”

Backbone will work primarily on promoting BCM’s largest fundraiser, Backpacker Magazine’s Summit For Someoneâ„¢ benefit climbs, in which individuals raise $3500 to go on a guided mountaineering trip on many of North America’s most sought after peaks. The funds raised from Backpacker Magazine’s Summit For Someoneâ„¢ benefit climbs are enough to fully sponsor five teens and a youth agency leader for the summer outdoor youth mentoring program. Backbone will also focus on the summer youth mentoring program and BCM’s co-branded apparel line.

“Big City Mountaineers is a great organization, and we are proud to be on board,” says Backbone Partner Nate Simmons. “Many of our clients support BCM, so it is a natural fit.”

BCM, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is the country’s leading volunteer organization devoted to providing significant mentoring during wilderness trips for urban teens participating in existing youth development programs. BCM was created to offer under resourced teenagers participating in existing youth development programs a dramatic learning experience. For more information on BCM, visit www.bigcitymountaineers.org.
