Backbone Media Strengthens; Ian Anderson and Mavs Fitzgerald Join Team

Backbone Media, a full service media buying and public relations firm based in Carbondale, Colorado, announced the hiring of two new staff, Ian Anderson and H. Mavis Fitzgerald. Both will work as Public Relations Account Executives in the outdoor, fitness and lifestyle markets.

“We are ecstatic to have both Mavis and Ian join our team,” states Backbone Founder Penn Newhard, who continues, “Recently, Backbone has grown in periphery active lifestyle markets and adding Mavis and Ian adds firepower to Backbone and the clients we serve.”

Ian comes to Backbone from Vail, Colorado, where he was the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Vail Valley Chamber and Tourism Bureau. A University of Virginia graduate, Ian is also President of First Descents, a non-profit Kayak camp for young adults with cancer. Ian is a dedicated paddler, though he also enjoys cycling, telemark skiing and spending time with his adventure-racing wife, Sari. He can be reached at Ian@backbonemedia.net.

Mavis is a long-time Carbondale resident. Her eight-years at the town’s Montessori school, including six as a Head Primary Teacher, make her a favorite among local children aged 2-5. A graduate of the University of Colorado, Mavis is also a popular local artist. After years of trying to keep up with Mavis on the slopes and at the crags, Backbone decided it would be best to have her intelligence, quick wit and creativity in-house.
