Fischer Celebrates Backcountry Magazine’s Editor’s Choice Award for the Hannibal 106
The Backcountry focused Hannibal 106 is the latest in Fischer’s 2020 awards haul.

AUBURN, NH- With serious design input from AMGA ski guide and Fischer’s US Alpine Product Manager, Mike Hattrup, and Fischer’s team of US guides, the Hannibal 106 is a product of collaboration between the U.S. Fischer office and headquarters in Austria.
“Our goal was to build a lightweight touring ski that had a little extra power than most touring skis,” said Hattrup. The result was a ski that took home not just Backcountry Magazine’s award but also earned accolades from its team of IFMGA guides on both sides of the pond.
“I wasn’t expecting much from these, but whoa!” Described one of Backcountry Magazine’s testers. “Light, yet incredibly drivable and pretty darn stable in that cruddy variable stuff.”
Fischer’s Hannibal 106 is an evolution from their previous skis. Featuring more Titanal than any touring ski on the market, carbon stringers running the length of the ski and a low weight Paulownia core, the Hannibal strikes a balance between hard driving and hardly weighing much.
The Hannibal’s Editor’s Choice is a part of a banner awards year for Fischer, an independently owned brand committed to quality and responsible manufacturing (Fischer’s factories have been sustainably powered since 2009.)
