Park City, Utah (June 18, 2007) – Base Camp Communications, a Jackson Hole, Wyoming-based public relations agency specializing in sports and tourism clients, has a new office now open for business in Park City, Utah.
When deciding to expand Base Camp Communications to Utah, director Mike Geraci considered the state’s strong adventure sports community, its natural playground, and its educated workforce. Key, though, was Utah’s record of promoting and supporting the outdoor sports industry.
“The Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development and cities such as Ogden have made a huge effort to lure and keep existing outdoor businesses. They’re really the benchmark when it comes to providing incentives for companies in our industry,†Geraci said. “This commitment makes it clear that the time is right to grow in and with Utah.â€
The Park City, Utah office will also allow Base Camp Communications to better serve its existing Utah client, Backcountry.com. Base Camp Communications has worked with the online retailer of high-end outdoor adventure gear and clothing since 2001. As Backcountry.com has grown, so has Base Camp Communications.
The Park City office of Base Camp Communications will be under the direction of Marit Fischer. A skilled communications expert, Fischer has twelve years of experience in media, community and internal relations, as well as public affairs. She has served as the marketing and public relations manager of Women’s Sports + Fitness magazine and the Wyoming Chapter of The Nature Conservancy. Through agency and freelance work, she has directed communications efforts for national clients including The Jane Goodall Institute, Culligan, Vibram and River Rock Casino. She is also firmly established as a publicist in Utah, having bolstered the public awareness of businesses and organizations such as Bank of American Fork, Clark Planetarium, Park City Restaurant Association, Judge Memorial Catholic High School and the Keith Christensen for Salt Lake City Mayor campaign.
Established in 2000, Base Camp Communications takes an independent, creative, “brand communications†approach to public relations. It is the only PR firm in the adventure sports industry to engage target audiences through social media (blogs, online communities and video channels) – a fact that also positions the agency on the cutting edge of marketing communicators in the Intermountain West.
Other Base Camp Communications clients include: Gregory Mountain Products, Kona Bicycle Company, Original Buff, Parr Goldman & Byrne, Princeton Tec, Ryders Eyewear, Swobo, SCARPA, Teton Mountain Lodge and Westcomb.
Base Camp Communication’s Park City office is located at 1678 W. Redstone Center Dr., Suite 210.
