Bergans of Norway Expanding Product Line with Freeride Clothing and Women’s Mountaineering Lines, and an ABS Pack
LONGMONT, Colo. – January 16, 2013 – Bergans of Norway is predominately known in North America for its backpacks and traditional ski and lifestyle apparel. During this month’s trade show season, the company aims to change that perception when it launches the Hodlekve freeride ski clothing line, its women’s specific mountaineering Cecilie Skog Signature technical collection, and — a first for the company — the Hodlekve ABS pack for the 2013/2014 selling season.

The Hodlekve freeride ski clothing line — pronounced Hood-lek-vah — was also developed with input from members of Team Bergans, a group of sponsored athletes from different disciplines that use and help develop Bergans products, including X-Games athlete Anders Backe. The line is designed to be tough and stylish with premium Dermizax™ NX (a supple, waterproof, windproof and highly breathable membrane), four-way stretch fabrics, laser cut and welded seams, and feature a long baggy fit. Currently the line includes insulated and non-insulated jackets and pants in both men’s and women’s styles. MSRPs range from $349 for the insulated pant to $499 for the non-insulated jacket.
The Cecilie Skog line was developed with input from Cecilie Skog, the only women in the world to both successfully top the “The Seven Summits”, “The Three Poles”, and to cross Antarctica unassisted and unsupported. Year-old subsidiary Bergans USA, has decided to bring the line to North America to serve the growing women’s premium technical clothing market.
The Skog line includes jackets and pants made of Demizax, down and PrimaLoft® Eco jackets and anoraks, a poly wool mix hoody, rock climbing pants, fleece jackets and beanies all designed for hard outdoor use by active women. MSRP for products in the line range from $24 for a beanie to $399 for the Cecilie Skog Dermizax jacket.
Calling on Bergans’ 100+ year history since it’s founding as a pack company, the company will introduce its first avalanche safety pack, the Hodlekve ABS, a 15-liter pack for sidecountry and heli-skiing. It features attachment points for skis, room for backcountry safety gear and a few essentials. MSRP is $1,189.
Bergans will be showing the above products this month, and the rest of its Fall Winter 2013/2014 line, at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market (booth 16039) , and the SIA Snow Show (booth 722).
