Bergans of Norway Sponsors the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival

and its Multi-city World Tour

LONGMONT, Colo. – Nov. 12, 2014 – The 39th edition of the iconic Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival took place last week and Bergans of Norway was one of the event’s ‘Major Partners.’ The festival presented the very best in mountain culture through film, photography and literature during nine days (Nov. 1-9) at the Banff Centre located in Alberta, Canada’s Rocky Mountains.

Previously Bergans was a presenting sponsor of Banff’s sister film tour Radical Reels, but has now raised its support to the larger annual film and book festival, as well as the festival’s World Tour, which begins its multi-city tour the end of this year.

“The Banff Mountain Festival enthusiastically celebrates the outdoor lifestyle, and the World Tour carries that enthusiasm beyond the Canadian Rockies to the rest of the world,” said Keith Patterson, Bergans USA’s vice president of sales and marketing.

Thousands of people attended the annual festival where the world’s best mountain films, books, and speakers chronicled expeditions, remote cultures, and the world’s great wild places through such sports as climbing, skiing, mountain biking and paddlesports.

Retailers interested in working with Bergans during Banff Mountain Film Fesitval’s World Tour stops can contact their Bergans sales rep, or contact Bergans directly at info@bergans.com or 303.834.9709.

ABOUT BERGANS OF NORWAY

Bergans was established in 1908, when Ole Ferdinand Bergan invented the first anatomical backpack. Today backpacks, functional outdoor clothing and tents are part of the portfolio of Bergans of Norway, as well as the ALLY brand of packable canoes. Adventurers such as South Pole conqueror Roald Amundsen, Mount Everest pioneer Sir Edmund Hillary, and heroes of our time such as Polar explorers Rune Gjeldnes or Cecilie Skog trust Bergans equipment on their expeditions.

The Scandinavian brand was established in 1908 by Ole F. Bergan after he invented the anatomical frame pack. During a hunting trip, he cut and shaped a juniper branch to match the curve of his back and attached it to his heavy, loose-fitting rucksack, a design now mirrored in every anatomical backpack produced today, including Bergans award winning Glittertind. The company offers a broad range of backpacks, tents, foldable canoes, and technical and fashionably functional outdoor and ski clothing.

The headquarter of Bergans Fritid AS is situated in Hokksund, Norway, 60 km southwest of Oslo, where 90-plus employees work in development, research, design and sales. Bergans is a market leader in Norway and steadily growing in several export markets in Europe and North America (www.bergans.com).
