Berghaus has added new products to its range of waterproof, breathable Hydroshell™ products for winter 2015. Introduced earlier this year, Hydroshell was developed by the MtnHaus innovation team at Berghaus. For the new season, the company has added two fabrics to the Hydroshell family – ultra breathable Hydroshell™ Air and 3L Hydroshell™ Elite Pro, the first new three layer waterproof fabric that Berghaus has developed in 15 years. Hydroshell products appear in every Berghaus apparel category, complementing a comprehensive choice of styles made out of GORE- TEX® fabrics, the result of Berghaus’ long-term partnership with W.L. Gore & Associates.

In the Extrem category, the men’s and women’s Baffin Island jackets are made out of a combination of Hydroshell™ Elite Pro and Hydroshell™ Air.With a hydrostatic head of 20,000mm and breathability of 20,000g/m2/24hrs, 3L Hydroshell™ Elite Pro delivers durable storm level protection, ideal for mountaineering and close to rock activities. Hydroshell™ Air combines a polyamide ripstop face fabric incorporating stretch, with a non- woven electro fibre nano PU spun membrane. The effect is an extremely high level of breathability in a waterproof fabric, reducing humidity significantly during high levels of activity.
Through laboratory and athlete testing, Berghaus has recognized that although exceptionally breathable, nano spun membranes do not deliver durable waterproof protection over an extended period of time. The unique MtnHaus™ solution is to combine Hydroshell™ Air with 3L Hydroshell™ Elite Pro in a first ever hybrid construction of this type (this innovation won an ISPO Award).
The men’s and women’s Baffin Island jackets have been engineered using Berghaus’ advanced body- mapping principles. Hydroshell™ Air has been used in key heat zones, for enhanced levels of comfort, while Hydroshell™ Elite Pro features in the main body of the jackets, resulting in the best possible combination of protection and breathability in a technical alpine garment. The Baffin Island jackets are packed with essential features for extended use in the mountains, including helmet compatible hoods with wired peaks, side stretch panels for freedom of movement, and raised mesh lined hand-warmer pockets. The men’s and women’s Baffin Island jackets retail at $350

New from Berghaus for winter 2015 are the men’s and women’s Tower jackets, made out of 3L Hydroshell™ Elite Pro. The Tower jackets are fully featured four season garments for extended use in a wide range of mountain activities. The main body is reinforced in high friction areas with a heavier weight version of the fabric, providing increased durability against rocks, rucksacks and hardware.
The Tower jackets feature fixed, adjustable full mountain hoods with wired peak; four zipped pockets (two front, one chest and one interior); core body venting with two-way zips; hook and loop cuff tab adjustment; and dual hem adjustment with concealed cord lock. Hydroshell™ Elite Pro also features an anti-odor backer, ideal for hard use over long days in the mountains. The men’s and women’s Tower jackets retail at $320
The Berghaus autumn/winter 2015 range is available now from www.berghaus.com and selected specialist outdoor retailers.
