Beyond Coastal’s pro paddler Haley Mills wraps successful season

Beyond Coastal, manufacturer of premium sun care products for the outdoor lifestyle, has hit the road this spring and summer with its sponsored athlete and rising paddling star, 24 year old Haley Mills. A part time Salida, Colo.-resident, Mills’ home has been mobile this season as she covered the distance between events aboard her trusty RV, a rolling paddler’s paradise containing gear, boats, apparel, and sunscreen. “The freedom I get from traveling in the RV is symbolic for why I pursue the sport of whitewater kayaking,” Mills said. “Cruising in the RV at 50 miles per hour is how I get to see the world and I love the accessibility it gives me to meet people who are passionate about paddling and the outdoors.”

Mills recently wrapped up a long stretch of travel and competing with the World Championships in Germany, taking fifth in the Freestyle Kayaking competition and solidifying her place as one of the U.S.’ top performing kayakers. Her 2011 season results include:

• Connecticut Triple Crown: 2nd Women’s Freestyle, 4th overall
• Nantahala Outdoor Shoot out: 2nd Women’s Freestyle
• Reno River Fest: 4th Women’s Freestyle, 5th Slalom
• Green River Fest: 4th Women’s Freestyle
• Buena Vista Pro Rodeo: 3rd Women’s Freestyle
• Teva Mountain Games: 3rd Women’s Freestyle, 7th Downriver sprint
• World’s Freestyle Kayaking Competition: 5th Women’s Freestyle

Mills’ best result was in North Carolina, where she took 1st Place in women’s freestyle at the NOC Shootout.
