Big City Mountaineers Announces 2013 Summit For Someone Season

(Golden, Colo.) – Big City Mountaineers (BCM), the non-profit that instills critical life skills in under-resourced urban youth through wilderness mentoring expeditions, announces the ninth season of its Summit for Someoneâ„¢ (SFS) fundraising climb series. SFS is a unique program which gives participants a chance to travel, climb the world’s premier mountains, and positively impact the lives of under-resourced urban youth.
The vital funding raised through SFS enables BCM to help thousands of urban youth across the country in need of positive adult guidance, in challenging and restorative wilderness environments. BCM programs have a proven track record of improving integrity, self-esteem, decision-making abilities, and communication skills that keep kids healthy, active, in school, and motivated to strive for success.
With BCM board member and SFS spokesperson Ed Viesturs leading the charge this season, the program has added seven new climbs including international favorites like Everest Basecamp, Aconcagua, and Ecuador Volcanoes. All expeditions are guided by professional guide services, creating extraordinary adventures for both first-time climbers and experienced mountaineers. Additionally, each SFS climber receives a variety of gear for their climbs through the support of BCM’s sponsors.
