Brooklyn, NY, March 21, 2013 – BioLite LLC, an innovator in energy solutions, announced today that the BioLite CampStove has won the 2013 Travel + Leisure Design Award in the Adventure Gear category. The annual competition, now in its ninth year, recognizes the year’s best goods and destinations that, through their outstanding design, make travel better.
The 2013 Design Awards winners, representing 12 categories, were chosen by a panel of outstanding experts in their fields. Jury members include architect Deborah Berke, fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff, chef and restaurateur Marcus Samuelsson, interior designer Alexandra Champalimaud, textile designer John Robshaw, Doyle Partners Creative Director Stephen Doyle, and author and style maven Amy Fine Collins.
“Good design is at the core of our work and we’re honored to be recognized by this expert panel,” says BioLite CEO Jonathan Cedar. “We’ve been seeing our users take us all around the world so we are grateful to be recognized as the top travel-related choice for adventure gear.”
The BioLite CampStove is a compact wood-burning cookstove that uses thermoelectric technology to convert heat into electricity. Relying on found biomass such as twigs or pinecones, the CampStove provides an ultra-efficient fire while allowing users to charge small devices via a USB-port.
