Brooklyn, NY – August 13, 2012 – BioLite LLC, an innovator in energy solutions, is pleased to announce it has received two industry awards from leading outdoor gear website, The Gear Junkie. Presented at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, UT this last week, BioLite received a Best in Show Award and the EPIC Award. With more than 1,000 brands exhibiting at the OR show, BioLite garnered unprecedented attention at its inaugural show.

The Gear Junkie awarded the BioLite CampStove with one of its “10 Best in Show” Awards, citing its innovative ability to create an efficient fire for cooking from biomass with the added benefit of converting heat to electricity for charging small electronics.

Following the OR Show, The Gear Junkie announced BioLite Founders Alec Drummond and Jonathan Cedar as recipients of the “EPIC” Award for their work in creating the HomeStove model and initiative to bring cleaner cook fires to developing countries. The EPIC Award recognizes “adventures, athletes, gear designers, activists and artists who affect notable change and do good for the outdoors world.”

“BioLite’s innovation as a company initially caught my attention,” said Stephen Regenold, editor and founder of GearJunkie.com. “But the company’s dedication to a cause put it over the top as a truly stand-out brand among the thousands in this industry.”

“We could not be more thrilled with the reception BioLite received at Outdoor Retailer. The Gear Junkie is a leader the outdoor industry. To receive both of these honors is unreal,” says BioLite CEO Jonathan Cedar. “We’re truly proud of the positive response we are receiving to the CampStove domestically and we remain committed to bringing cleaner cookstoves to countries abroad.”
