Chamonix, France – Jan 18, 2018
Black Crows, the French ski brand making waves in North America with design-driven, performance ski products, announced today the launch of its comprehensive apparel line. Designed for skiers seeking performance and elegant styling, the line will be available to consumers for the 2018/19 winter season.
Following the success of its award-winning hardgoods line over the last decade, the Black Crows team knew it was time to grow the brand. After careful consideration of possible growth trajectories, the team decided to move into apparel for the same reason the brand started in the first place: they weren’t finding the mountain tools they needed that both matched their performance and style standards. Chamonix-based Black Crows quietly launched a small collection of apparel pieces in 2015 to test the waters, gain feedback, and start growing interest to build upon for the launch of its complete 18/19 collection.
The line, which is intended to bring skiers performance-driven, technical apparel pieces, is inspired by all-mountain parkas and military garments of the 1960s and 70s, but adds elegant styling and functionality designed for the big mountain and backcountry skiers of today. The collection, both men’s and women’s, is broken into two categories: Big Mountain Skiing (Corpus) and Backcountry Touring (Ventus). The Corpus category for big mountain skiers reflects the ethos of the Black Crow’s’ passion for art and design. It is minimalistic yet highly technical and discrete with a strong identity. These pieces are built to transition seamlessly from the peaks of Chamonix to après to the city streets. The Ventus line, on the other hand, is dedicated for ski tourers who spend all winter skiing high in the mountains and further afield, requiring extra technical details and lightweight fabrics.
Across both categories, skiers will enjoy a range of mid-layers and outerwear pieces that combine high performance materials such as, but not limited to, Gore-Tex® C-Knit, Pertex® Quantum Air, Polartec® Alpha and Primaloft® Silver and Gold insulations. To set the collection apart from other technical apparel brands, skiers will find Black Crows-specific detailing such as subtle logo placements, large, function-specific pockets, helmet compatible hoods, stylized seam taping, chevron style elements and luxurious, silky interiors. Finally, Black Crows took extra consideration when designing colorways, ensuring a mix of bright and sophisticated timeless colors that mix and match across the collection. All pieces are minimalistic in design but offer a strong, recognizable silhouette and identity.
According to co-founder Camille Jaccoux, “we wanted to build upon our success with the hardgoods line and grow that vision throughout our new technical apparel line. Our goal is to bring skiers the best products dedicated to the practice when it comes to technical performance, but with a hint of style and sleek, understated design. We couldn’t be more excited to introduce the collection to the ski community, globally.”
In future seasons, skiers can expect to see the Black Crows apparel line grow to complement each of its four hardgoods categories: Big Mountain, Backcountry, Resort and All Terrain.

About Black Crows
Founded in 2006, Black Crows is a Chamonix, France-based brand that was born out of a desire to collide beauty and efficiency into skis. Named for the Alpine Chough, Chamonix’s omni-present black bird which is one of the few birds that can fly at an altitude of over 4000 meters, the brand is dedicated to creating obsessively design-driven products that are uncompromising in performance and identity for contemporary skiing. The brand broke into the North American market in early/late 20xx with founding idea that “skis that are good in Chamonix will work anywhere.” A statement which has proven true. Black Crows now prepares to do the same with its luxurious, performance-driven apparel category, showing in its entirety for the first time at Outdoor Retailer Snow Show 2018.
