BOULDER, Colo. – January 12, 2009 – Body Bar Systems, Inc., a premier fitness company and official sponsor of USA Wrestling and a premier sponsor of the USA Women’s Wrestling program, announced today that founder and chairman Arno Niemand will be inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum in June.

The Order of Merit is presented to individuals other than athletes and coaches who have made a significant contribution to the advancement of wrestling. The winner is selected by a vote of the Distinguished Members of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Mr. Niemand wrestled at Cornell where he graduated in 1956. He went on to earn his MBA in 1958 from the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia. Throughout his life, Niemand has continued to support the sport of wrestling, and in 2008 received the FILA Gold Star, which is the highest award given to an individual by the world governing body of wrestling. He was also inducted into the Cornell Hall of Distinguished Wrestling Alumni. As a strong proponent of women’s wrestling, Body Bar Systems has sponsored the USA Wrestling Women’s National Team since 2003. The team continues to use the Body Bar® as they train for the 2009 World Championships. In July 2008, Body Bar Systems signed Olympic wrestler Marcie Van Dusen to represent Body Bar Inc. in various marketing endeavors.

“Although my commitment to wrestling has nothing to do with awards, I am tremendously pleased to be honored by this esteemed group of peers,” commented Mr. Niemand. “I look at the names of those who have earned this honor before me and it’s very gratifying to be among them.”

“Arno’s progressive approach to women’s athletics, especially in regards to women’s wrestling, is commendable and he is deserving of this esteemed award,” said Terry Steiner, USA Wrestling women’s national team coach. “The entire USA Women’s Wrestling team offers their hearty congratulations.”

“Arno Niemand and Body Bar Systems have been major factors in the success of our U.S. women’s national team,” said Rich Bender, USA Wrestling executive director. “Their support has not only provided needed resources for our women to succeed on the international level, but Arno and Body Bar have taken a personal interest in our athletes and program. The United States has become a world power in women’s wrestling, and Arno has been a key partner in that journey.”

”Supporting a women’s program is a natural fit with Body Bar and the fitness message we are trying to promote,” added Niemand. “It’s about giving opportunities, not taking them away.”
