BOULDER, COLORADO — The Boulder Outdoor Specialty Group thanked Paul Gagner this week for a tenure that blended outdoor passion, business success and brand commitment.
In April 2006, Gagner took the reins of Sierra Designs, a technical leader of innovative outdoor clothing and gear, and Ultimate Direction, a manufacturer of high-performance hydration systems. Both companies were part of the specialty brand group of American Recreation Products, Inc.
Earlier this month, Gagner’s position was eliminated as six Boulder-based brands in the group reorganized into a single cohesive entity designed to strengthen ties to each other and their customers.
“Paul’s experience and passion for the outdoors as well as his proven track record of success were a boon to Sierra Designs and Ultimate Directions. We’ll all miss having him as part of the team,†said Kenny Ballard, president of the Boulder Outdoor Specialty Group.â€
A passionate outdoor industry advocate for over 25 years and an active climber for more than 30 years, Gagner’s unique background combines a successful business career with an active outdoor lifestyle.
During his tenure in Boulder, Gagner’s brands focused the creation of core, authentic and technical products that met or exceeded the needs of specialty retailers and consumers. Gagner was additionally committed to identifying and delivering new and meaningful technologies and innovations.
Based in the quintessential environment for outdoor innovation, the Boulder Outdoor Specialty Group includes Kelty, Kelty K.I.D.S., Sierra Designs, Ultimate Direction, Slumberjack and Wenger.
