Liverpool, UK (April 30, 2013)ElliptiGO Inc., creators of the world’s first elliptical bicycle, today announced that British adventurers Dave Cornthwaite and Squash Falconer began their “3000 Miles of Yes” trek on ElliptiGOs through Western Europe. Launching from the Everton Football Club in Liverpool, their nine-week, 3000-mile journey through six countries will be a record-setting attempt for the longest distance traveled in one journey on an elliptical bicycle. Both lovers of the outdoors with a passion for sports, they hope to highlight the benefits of physical activity on quality of life to the people they meet and encourage people to say “yes” more in their lives.

“Dave and I always talked about doing an adventure together,” recalls Falconer. “So when he suggested we take on a 3000-mile journey on elliptical bicycles, I simply said ‘yes!’ I didn’t know anything about the route or these bikes, but that didn’t matter because I was up for an adventure. We quickly realized that encouraging that same attitude in others could get them to try new activities, so getting people to say “yes” more became a primary goal of ours on this trek.”

During the journey, Cornthwaite and Falconer will engage with the public before and after each day’s ride, and work with local bike clubs, running groups, regional fitness initiatives, competitive events and elite athletes to encourage people to develop new habits for themselves through fitness and action.

Both Cornthwaite and Falconer are accomplished adventurers who are up to the challenge of setting a new record in this emerging sport. They have both completed several world firsts during their individual careers, from skateboarding across Australia (Cornthwaite) to paragliding from the peak of Mt. Blanc (Falconer). Hoping to inspire a sense of adventure in everyday life, these two want to demonstrate how creating a personal challenge for oneself and making it happen can change old habits and instill new confidence.

For Dave, this journey on the ElliptiGO will be the 8th adventure in his Expedition1000 project, an ambitious series of twenty-five journeys of at least 1000 miles in length, each one using a different method of non-motorized transport. Along the way, Dave hopes to raise £1,000,000 for charity. Fundraising efforts during The GO Trek will go to CoppaFeel!, a charitable organization that approaches breast cancer awareness with a unique and engaging spirit.

“I’m really looking forward to this journey, the ElliptiGO is such a unique machine that it is instantly an icebreaker for Squash and I to engage with the public around Europe. While I hope it will be an easier journey than swimming the Missouri, there’s no doubt that averaging 60 miles every day for 9 weeks is a huge challenge. I can’t think of anything I’d rather be doing!”

The GO Trek begins today from the Everton Football Club in Liverpool and finishes in Paris, France on July 6th. Their journey will take them through the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Monaco and France, and the public is encouraged to join them along the way.
