FREMONT, CALIF. (MARCH 2, 2011) – Brooks-Range Mountaineering Equipment Co., a manufacturer of high-quality backcountry and mountaineering gear, has partnered with 1% for the Planet®, a fast-growing global network consisting of more than 1,200 businesses that donate 1% of annual sales to environmental causes. Starting March 1, 2011, Brooks-Range has committed to donate 1% of its annual sales in an effort to support non-profit organizations that raise awareness and help preserve the outdoor environment where Brooks-Range products are utilized.
This commitment is a perfect compliment to the efforts that Brooks-Range Mountaineering Equipment already has in place to give back. Brooks-Range is a sponsor of the American Hiking Society, donates product to a variety of avalanche workshops and seminars throughout the U.S. and Canada, and also supports local outdoor organizations.
“Giving back to the community and ensuring that we continue to take care of places where we play is a top priority for Brooks-Range,†said Matt Brooks, President of Brooks-Range Mountaineering Equipment Co. “By donating a portion of our proceeds to often under-funded but crucial non-profit organizations that preserve our natural environments, we can ensure the future of our playground. We look forward to forging relationships with organizations such as the Winter Wildlands Alliance and the American Alpine Club through our commitment with 1% for the Planet.â€
