New Glow in the Dark Details Provide Accurate Readings in Low Light Conditions

Delivering on its reputation for innovative navigation products that enhance the outdoor experience, outdoor equipment brand Brunton will launch a series of new illuminated field instruments and compasses at the OutDoor show in Friedrichshafen, Germany, June 18-21, 2017 and the Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City, Utah, July 26-29, 2017.

The compasses combine the tried-and-true methods introduced more than a century ago by D.W. Brunton, the company’s founder, with new state-of-the-art technology, including LED or glow-in-the-dark dials, all precision-made in the U.S.A.

Omnislope LED – Now with a low intensity LED light that increases visibility at night, the Omnislope inclinometer measures angles in degrees, percent grade and the 66-foot forestry chain. The lightweight aluminum housing lends years of field reliability, and the precision pendulum gives fast and accurate readings whether you’re gaging the height of a tree, measuring avalanche danger, or judging the pitch of a cave. MSRP $229.99

Omnisight LED – Also featuring LED technology, the Omnisight LED features navigation, plotting and military grade sighting measurements in one hand-held unit. Steadfast aluminum housing ensures ruggedness and reliability, and the internal rare-earth magnet guarantees accuracy and resists magnetic interference. MSRP $229.99

“As we looked at our customer experience and navigation use, we saw the opportunity to enhance our core products,” said Per Wååg, Brunton’s General Manager. “Reading a compass in low light conditions or in mines or caves is difficult or impossible. The Omnislope and Omnisight LED are designed for these situations. With a push of a button, a green LED light lights up the bezel. The low intensity green light is designed to preserve your night vision and give just enough light to be able to make a correct readout.”

Brunton also added after-glowing details to the TruArc and 8010 compasses. Charged by daylight or artificial light, each model will keep luminous for hours or through a night hike.

TruArc™ 20, TruArc 15 and TruArc 10 – The TruArc™ collection features compass models fit for all experience levels and pursuits from fast-paced adventure racing to backcountry. All models in the collection are equipped with Brunton’s specially magnetized rare earth TruArc Global Needle system and tool-less declination adjustment settings to ensure compatible use worldwide. The TruArc 20, 15 and 10 models now feature Glow technology to ensure ease of use for night navigation. The luminous azimuth, north pointing needle, vial bottom, arrow of direction and sight keeps glowing for up to 8 hours. MSRP TruArc 20: $79.99, TruArc 15: $69.99, TruArc 10: $59.99

Brunton 8010 Compass – With a luminous azimuth, north pointing needle, vial bottom and arrow of direction for easy night navigation, the Brunton 8010 Classic Map Compass features easy map navigation and tool-free declination adjustment. Two-degree graduations and inch and millimeter scales make measurements and conversions a breeze. MSRP $29.99
