August 21, 2008 (Riverton, Wyo.)- Brunton, industry leader in the development of gear for outdoor adventure, announced their Solo 15 Portable Power System is receiving Field & Stream’s Best of the Best Award in the hunting technology category for 2008. Each year the magazine’s editors rigorously field test hundreds of pieces of gear for several months. The judging criterion includes significance of the innovation, the quality of the design, and the value it brings to hunters.
“We are very proud to be recognized for the innovation and design that went into the SOLO,” comments Brunton Senior Communications Manager, Jason Kintzler. “Solar power is one of the most efficient forms of alternative energy to power your electronic devices while away from the grid. Brunton is committed to making the highest-quality, most dependable portable power equipment on the market.”

At less than four pounds, the revolutionary SOLO 15 brings power to the weekend camper or long expedition adventurer way off the grid. The SOLO 15 is a battery storage unit that provides power wherever and whenever you need it. It can operate a variety of electronics such as air pumps, cell phones, satellite phones, TVs or even laptops for hours with the potential for nearly unlimited power capacity. When combined with Brunton’s portable, foldable solar panels the unit is easily recharged while on the go. It can also be charged via a household outlet or vehicle DC outlet. The SOLO 15 has an output of 150-watt hours and it is completely waterproof for added functionality in the outdoors.

With Brunton’s introduction to the new category in 2001, portable solar power technology was quickly adopted by athletes like Ed Veisturs who took the Brunton systems up Mount Everest and to other remote locations. Brunton continues to broaden the category to meet the needs of all outdoor enthusiasts and consumers.

Complete details on the Field & Stream Best of the Best Awards can be found in the September 2008 Field & Stream issue.
