Boulder, CO (July 20, 2020) – Camber Outdoors, a national nonprofit supporting workplace inclusion, equity, and diversity across the active-outdoors industries is hosting their virtual keynote breakfast this Thursday, July 23 at Outdoor Retailer. Their keynote, Angela Reddock-Wright (she/her/hers) – Founding & Managing Partner at Reddock Law Group, will present the pressing topic “The New Corporate Activism: Employee-Driven, Values-Lead”.
America faces unprecedented challenges in the form of a global pandemic, a massive recession, and a heightened national focus on systemic racism and police brutality against the Black community. Amid these challenges, employees are increasingly urging employers to use their powerful corporate platforms to drive social change, catalyzing a new breed of corporate activism driven by rising employee social consciousness and fueled by the power of social media.
This New Corporate Activism is not without its risks. Corporations have traditionally shied away from making political statements because of potential backlash from a diverse array of shareholders, employees, consumers, and communities. And corporations face real challenges in managing the legal risks and liabilities of supporting employee protests and taking corporate stances on important social issues.
But despite the risks, companies that embrace employee causes and concerns have an opportunity to attract new employees with shared values; foster retention and engagement amongst current employees; and establish themselves with new consumer segments, particularly socially-conscious Millennials, who are entering their peak spending years.
Attendees will leave with:
– An understanding of the nature of the New Corporate Activism
– Approaches and strategies for managing its risks and realizing its benefits
– An enhanced knowledge of the tools and resources available to organizations to help them successfully engage in the New Corporate Activism
The event is free and open to the public.
