The new partnership links CamelBak’s premier hydration products with some of the best cyclists in the world and answers a global cry from fans to further the tradition of ethical sportsmanship that Garmin-Chipotle began, including 100% Clean, the organization’s revolutionary anti-doping efforts.
“Everything about our relationship with Slipstream embodies our shared values of integrity and purity in sports, and the power of technology,†said Layne Rigney, Vice President of Global Sales for CamelBak. “We love the idea of creating a special Slipstream bottle that will directly benefit clean racing, and we hope it will become an iconic way for cycling fans everywhere to demonstrate their personal support for the purity of the sport as well.â€
In addition to the 100% Clean partnership, CamelBak will become the official hydration sponsor for Garmin-Chipotle for 2009. Riders will train and race exclusively with CamelBak Podiumâ„¢ bottles and utilize the company’s new wearable hydration products including the RaceBakâ„¢, the industry’s first base-layer apparel with built-in hydration capabilities.
“Our riders were incredibly impressed by the Podium bottle and the technology innovation it represented,†said Matt Johnson, President of Slipstream Sports. “We approached CamelBak because of our own commitment to technology and to improving cycling overall.â€
The companies will kick off the partnership at the Interbike International Bicycle Expo in Las Vegas. Riders and team staff will be available for media interviews and autographs at the CamelBak booth (#3947) on Wednesday, September 24th from 4-6pm. Team CEO and Director Sportif Jonathan Vaughters will be available for media questions on Thursday, September 25th from 4:30-6pm in the CamelBak booth.
The special-edition CamelBak-Slipstream Podium bottle will be available for sale at the booth with all proceeds benefitting 100% Clean. Additional retail details will be announced at the show. For athlete interviews, please contact Marya Pongrace at 212-931-6142.
