TORONTO (July 29, 2009) – Canada Goose (www.canada-goose.com), the leading Canadian manufacturer of down-insulated outerwear for extreme climates, has become the first Canadian outerwear brand to join the Conservation Alliance (www.conservationalliance.com), an organization dedicated to the support and conservation of threatened wild places across North America. Born of purpose and function, the Canada Goose heritage stems from its dedication to providing protection from the most extreme elements around the world.
The Conservation Alliance recently celebrated its 20th anniversary of supporting deserving projects throughout North America, which help protect areas for their habitat and recreational values. Canada Goose’s participation will add to the continued support of select grassroots projects, and the company will collaborate with the Alliance members in hopes of raising participation from other key outdoor businesses.
“We are honored when companies like Canada Goose, with such a strong commitment to the environment, choose to join our efforts,†said John Sterling, executive director of the Conservation Alliance. “Canada Goose is a leader in the industry, fortifying our initiatives. With so many conservation opportunities in Canada, we’re confident their participation will help us steer more funds to these worthy projects.â€
Canada Goose’s membership will add additional support to projects chosen by the members of the Conservation Alliance. Each member of the organization helps to collectively decide the wildlife conservation projects in which the organization will help fund annually.
Since its inception in 1989, the Alliance has contributed more than $7.5 million to grassroots environmental groups.
“It was very important to us to join this strong organization and lend our support to protecting beautiful wild spaces in North America,†said Kevin Spreekmeester, vice president of marketing for Canada Goose. “We are looking forward to deepening our partnership with the Conservation Alliance and hope Canada Goose’s participation will inspire other companies throughout Canada to support its mission.â€
Canada Goose has built its reputation on core values of quality, authenticity, technology and function and has been manufacturing innovative, high quality outerwear for more than 50 years. People around the world wear Canada Goose, not only as an essential tool that allows them to explore, research and photograph in the harshest elements, but also because the products are as authentic today as they were the day their legendary parka was first launched.
