Cascade Designs Announces David Burroughs as New President

Seattle, WA (August 18, 2016) – Cascade Designs, known for its collection of award-winning brands including Therm-a-Rest®, Mountain Safety Research® (MSR), Platypus®, SealLine®, and PackTowl® announced today David Burroughs as the new President of Cascade Designs. David steps into the role having most recently worked as VP, Strategic Business Development for Cascade, and as an active member of Cascade’s Board of Directors since 2004. He will be replacing outgoing President, Joe McSwiney, who will continue to serve on the Cascade Designs Board of Directors.
David will work closely with his father and Board Chair, John Burroughs, who founded the company in 1972, continuing Cascade’s tradition as an independent, family-controlled business. Cascade’s brands continue to build time-tested gear, while simultaneously designing, manufacturing, and selling groundbreaking product innovations such as the Therm-a-Rest Trail King™ SV self-inflating mattress and MSR Guardian™ Purifier.
“I’ve had the privilege of working with and learning the business and industry from my father in an official capacity for 12 years, but started off in the business well before that packaging Therm-a-Rest stuff sacks in my bedroom as a kid,” said David. “I look forward to building on the company’s heritage of engineering and manufacturing-based product innovation and furthering the tradition of making award-winning product here in the U.S.”
