(Stowe, Vermont—February 14, 2109)—Popia—a new company founded by celebrated knitwear and apparel designer Poppy Gall—has launched a colorful and spirited collection of premium Merino wool hats for Fall/Winter ’19. The inaugural collection of eight styles, each in multiple colors, is designed to brighten up and bring joy to women’s winter wardrobes. Popia by Poppy Gall is designed in Vermont and meticulously crafted in small lots in Italy.
Popia is the newest of Poppy’s ventures as a well-known apparel and knitwear designer in the outdoor and ski industries. She co-founded two successful brands, including Isis for Women, the first women’s-only outdoor clothing company that set the benchmark for fit and style. Prior to Isis, Poppy’s company Mountain Ladies & Ewe created whimsical hand-loomed hats that supported a network of home knitters in Vermont.
As Owner and Creative Director of Poppy Gall Design Studio, Poppy continues to specialize in designing apparel and knitwear to top brands. Her color and design sense has been featured in products created for Darn Tough, Ibex, Nordica, Orvis and Obermeyer.

“Color and pattern fuels my spirit,” said Poppy. “Now I’m thrilled to share my passion with everyone who will wear a Popia hat, each a piece of art and an expression of individuality.”
The highest quality craftsmanship will enhance the intricate, colorful and playful designs in Popia hats. To create Popia hats, Poppy turned to a second generation, family-owned knitting business in Italy. She has worked with the family for decades and trusts their uniquely detailed, small batch approach to manufacturing.
Poppy chose naturally soft, itch-free Merino wool for Popia hats, using premium yarns that are spun and dyed in Italy to certified environmental standards. Merino wool is a natural fiber that retains warmth when wet, is breathable, odor resistant and perfect for winter wear. Popia hats, with proper care, are designed to last for generations, and unlike synthetic products, will biodegrade naturally.
The Pow pom hat is one of the new Popia styles. It’s for women who love a snowy day, featuring a blizzard of big snowflakes and bright stripes. Like all Popia hats, the Pow features super soft, lightweight fine gauge Merino wool, a contrasting patterned interior double layer, and a generous pom to top it off. The Pow, and all Popia hats, will retail for $60 when they come to market in Fall 2019.
Popia is taking orders from retailers now for delivery in fall 2019. The hats will also be available to consumers online exclusively at popiadesign.com .
