Steamboat Springs, Colo.,October 25, 2018 — Chaos Headwear with CTR-Chaos Thermal Regulation, a leader in extreme winter and summer headwear protection, affirms their commitment to the environment, responsible sourcing, and product integrity as fundamental pillars of the brand. Chaos makes products that not only satisfy customers’ active lifestyles, but strives to do so responsibly.

75 million people are employed in the textile, clothing and footwear sector worldwide, and 80% are women. Clothing manufacturing is the largest source of employment for women worldwide. Garment manufacturing is a $2.4 trillion industry in the U.S. With these facts in mind, it matters to Chaos to contribute to these numbers responsibly.

For Chaos and its parent company Do-Gree Fashions, participation in a Social Standard Program has been mandatory for all vendor partners since 2011.

This program grants inspection teams full access to all manufacturing facilities around the globe at all stages of production. This ensures that Chaos’s standards for ethical business practices and a responsible supply chain are met.

Ethics and standards are a growing part of the world economy, culture and core business at Do-Gree and are a direct asset to the Chaos brand. In supply chain audits, worker interviews by trained personnel are a core part of the process. The audit procedures require participation from factory management. The factory owner or manager may request that the human resources department, the payroll manager, and/or the floor supervisor participate as needed.

Through its environmental, regulatory, and social compliance programs, Chaos is determined to lead by example. Below are examples of collections featuring natural, sustainably sourced fibers that Chaos is very proud of.

CRUELTY-FREE MERINO WOOL

Through close partnership with their wool suppliers, Chaos has sourced Merino wools that are verified 100% non-mulesed. The merino used for the Alpin collection is purchased from South Africa, and certified through WTB (Wool Testing Bureau SA). The Merino wool is blended with nylon and acrylic for increased durability and a luxurious softness that beats almost anything on the market.

In addition to being breathable, temperature regulating, moisture wicking, quick drying, hypoallergenic, and odor resistant, Merino wool is a natural fiber that is biodegradable. Merino sheep produce a new fleece each year, making Merino wool a renewable resource.

NATURAL FIBERS

In the Summer 2019 collection, Chaos has a list of thoughtful sustainable stories. Toyo paper is mostly recycled rice paper that is coated with a resin to keep it strong. It can be woven finer than regular paper and, therefore, it is very durable and versatile. Raffia is a natural fiber harvested from the fronds of the Raphia Palm tree that is an environmentally friendly and sustainable resource. Raffia fiber is soft, pliable, strong, durable, easy to dye, and biodegradable, making it an excellent material for weaving hats and bags. Other sustainable fibers in the collection include sustainable cotton, hemp blends, recycled poly, and flax.

With warmth, breathability and sun protection in mind, this year Chaos Headwear features an array of natural, sustainably sourced fibers for its Winter and Summer collections.

At Chaos Headwear, we believe that educating our manufacturing partners is a vital to creating a responsible supply chain. Being a market leader is about more than just sales. It is also about setting standards and leading the way in areas that matter to all of us.
