Chaos Headwear Sponsors the 2009 USASA National Championships

Copper Mountain, Colorado – April 5th- 10th , 2009

Steamboat Springs, Colorado (April 2, 2009) Chaos Headwear is the official headwear supplier for the this week’s events at the USASA Nationals held at Copper Mountain, Co April 5th- 10th 2009. All participants and staff will receive a Chaos Nationals beanie, the largest single event sponsored by Chaos.

This is the fourth year for Chaos as the official USASA headwear supplier. The Energy and demographics are a perfect match. Close to 1600 snowboarders from all over the country and 10,000 spectators will descend on Copper Mountain this week for the 2009 USASA National Championships.

There they can expect to see the most elite group of riders in the US face off for National Title honors. With top winners earning $1,000 in cash purses. The USASA regional season begins November 2009 and consists of 500 events at over 100 resorts in 33 regions throughout the United States. The efforts of the USASA and its regions have enabled men and women, and boys and girls, of all ages to participate in its organized events.

The USASA National Championships has been called the World’s Largest Snowboard Competition. In 2009, it can now lay claim to the World’s Best Snowboard Competition. “USASA Open Class has always been the stepping-stone for many of the sport’s top professional competitors. In order to step up the level of competition, the 2009 USASA Open Class Halfpipe and Slopestyle Events will be 3 Star TTR (Ticket to Ride) events. TTR is the premiere international competition series in the world featuring hundreds of events across the globe culminating in a final TTR World Champion.” explains Jon Casson, Vice President, of the Executive Board of USASA. Because this event is a corner stone for young riders nationwide, this is an ideal venue for Chaos, the leader in headwear and innovation.

“To partner with the TTR and the World Snowboard Federation is just another way to show the world that the USASA is one of the strongest organizations in snowboarding. We have some really talented kids in our regions and this is a great opportunity for them to compete with the best in the business.” Said Jason Toutolmin, USASA Executive Director. The USASA will be inviting riders from around the globe and from premiere US events to compete in USASA Open Class events at Nationals. “Our goal is for this event to be the marquee event of the year for the young, up and coming snowboarder not only in the US, but from around the world.” says USASA President Bill Van Gilder.

Not to miss this week is the USASA Foundation Dance, Wednesday April 8th, 7:30pm to 10:30pm
, At Jack’s which is in the main base lodge of Copper.
 Admission is free. Raffle tickets will be sold at the dance and at the Windell’s tent during the week. Tickets are $5.00/each or 5 for $20.00. Tons of cool prizes will be raffled off and there will be a silent auction. All proceeds go to the USASA Foundation, which will award thousands of dollars to USASA athletes for education, training and travel to the annual National Championship.


The USASA is a grassroots snowboard organization with over 5000 members who compete in more than 500 events in 36 regional series across the US. Competitors range in age from 7 to 70 and represent a group of riders passionate about the sport of snowboarding. The USASA National Championships have been the final event of the season for these riders for close to 20 years. 2008 will mark the 19th Annual USASA Nationals and promises to be the biggest and best yet.
