Charlottesville, VA, March 21st, 2016 — Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. has signed on as the Official Beer Sponsor of the 2016 Charlottesville Marathon, Marathon Relay, Half Marathon and 8K. Bad to the Bone Sports’ partnership with Sierra Nevada will make the race a community event as the Beer Garden will offer a gathering spot for runners to celebrate each of their victories. Sierra Nevada has been passionate about brewing beer in Northern California for decades, but in 2015 opened their second brew house in Asheville, North Carolina. A company that recognizes the importance of community and the importance of celebrating the outdoors much like Bad to the Bone Sports does, Sierra Nevada is hoping to demonstrate their commitment to quality at the 2016 Charlottesville Marathon.
“Charlottesville is a craft beer City” says Dr. Francesca Conte, President of the Bad to the Bone Sports. “We are very excited to have Sierra Nevada as the Official Beer of the Charlottesville Marathon. Sierra Nevada’s craft culture and commitment to the community is a perfect match for an event like the Charlottesville Marathon, which is an integral part of the Charlottesville community. Charlottesville’s love and thirst for high quality, craft beer will be quenched the Friday and Saturday Beer Garden, where Sierra Nevada will offer some of its popular beers, Pale Ale, Otra Vez and Nooner. Between now and the race, we’ll let the participants choose which IPA they would like to see offered at the race on the Marathon Facebook page: let the voting begin!”
“We have been involved with several large community events” says Patrick Hazlett, Northeast Events Team Manager at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. “We are very excited about our partnership with the Charlottesville Marathon because we know that this will be the best way to showcase our great beers to the active community in Charlottesville. Runners love beer and they will be excited about the high quality sampling at the finish line of the race!”
The Sierra Nevada Beer Garden will take place on Friday, April 1st from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Saturday, April 2nd from 8:30 am to 11:30 am at historic Court Square, in Downtown Charlottesville. The beer garden will be open to runners, families and friends and spectators and everyone is invited to enjoy the live music and party atmosphere.
