Choose Outdoors Advisors add to private sector expertise

Choose Outdoors announced today the addition of Bob Woodward, founder of SNEWS and former mayor of Bend, Oregon; Skip Yowell, founder of Jansport, and the Outdoor Industry Association’s Craig Mackey (co founder of Choose Outdoors) as advisors to the national nonprofit focused on uniting the outdoor recreation community to increase support for, and participation in, all forms of outdoor recreation.

In addition, Mat Matson, former Rotary International Youth Leadership Chair and Murph Shelby, attorney for Patton Boggs, a law firm with offices in Denver and Washington, DC have also become advisors. Others key supporters included Jim Moss assisting with social media and recreational law issues and David Peri, a former lobbyist for NASA and the Outdoor Industry Association who is providing strategic input.

Choose Outdoors is working closely with the USDA Forest Service to increase support for its recreation programs, consulting on the development of strategic alliances with the private sector and developing youth engagement initiatives in several states across the country.
