Momentum is building for Choose Outdoors, a national nonprofit dedicated to creating a coalition of outdoor recreattion interests. The Colorado based organization, funded with support from the US Forest Service, Outdoor Industry Association, National Ski Areas Association, National RV Parks and Campgrounds and America Outdoors Association (guides and outfitters) and several outdoor lifestyle companies recently added IMBA and ATRA as associate members.
According to President and CEO Bruce Ward, “It is critical that we join forces with a wide spectrum of outdoor recreation enthusiasts-including the hunting, fishing and responsible motorized users of the outdoors. In these trying times we must demonstrate a willingness to work together if we are to leave a legacy that includes support for our public lands.”
Vice President Craig Mackey is focused on creating a Senate Outdoor Recreation Caucus with Senators Udall of Colorado and Risch of Idaho. “In order to build on the well established efforts to educate members of congress and the administration on the importance of outdoor recreation we must work to demonstrate broad constituent support,” Mackey said.
