Somerville, MA – April 1, 2015 – Clean Bottle, the company that revolutionized the water bottle with a screw off bottom for easy cleaning and introduced the iconic Square bottle, is proud to support the 2015 Amgen Tour of California as the official water bottle partner.
Clean Bottle’s product line of sport bottles was born when the Founders, elite level cyclists, got tired of trying to clean out the gunk from the bottom of their water bottles. After unsuccessful attempts to truly maintain a clean bottle, the idea for Clean Bottle was born – a water bottle with removable ends for easy cleaning. In 2010, the Founders launched Clean Bottle by donning a giant-sized “Bottle Boy” costume to chase riders during the Tour de France, competing for TV air time and fan attention. The unique stunt sold them over $70,000 worth of water bottles to successfully launch their product amongst cyclists. The company has since grown its product line to include three variations of the sport bottles, as well as the iconic SQUARE, which landed on the cover of WIRED Magazine and was awarded the Red Dot Award for product design.
The Amgen Tour of California, to be held from May 10th – May 17th, is an internationally renowned cycling event traversing almost 700 miles through 13 cities across the state of California. Attracting the world’s top professional cycling teams, this race is America’s largest and most prestigious professional cycling race. As a company founded inside the world of cycling, this event provides an ideal opportunity for Clean Bottle to connect with a competitive and performance oriented audience in need of innovative hydration solutions.

This year, the men’s course will traverse more than 700 miles and wind through 13 host cities, including Sacramento, Nevada City, Lodi, San Jose, Pismo Beach, Avila Beach, Santa Barbara, Santa Clarita, Big Bear Lake, Ontario, Mt. Baldy, L.A. LIVE (Downtown Los Angeles) and Pasadena. The women’s race will travel through South Lake Tahoe, Sacramento and Big Bear Lake.
