Cnoc Outdoors to Launch Kickstarter for Made in the USA Carbon Fiber Trekking Poles July 9, 2019

Cnoc Outdoors has revolutionized the design and manufacturing process of trekking poles from the bottom up. On July 9, Cnoc will launch a Kickstarter for their new innovative and sustainable Cnoc trekking poles—the only mass-produced trekking poles made in the U.S. While most trekking poles are disposable (once a part breaks the entire pole must be replaced), all individual parts of the Cnoc poles are replaceable. The poles can be fixed in the field and require no special tools for maintenance. Backers can pledge support and receive three types of extremely light carbon fiber poles: three-segment telescoping poles, two-segment ultralight poles, and z-fold poles.
Consumers would be shocked to know the quantity of fiberglass that comprises their “carbon fiber” trekking poles made overseas. The high-end US-made carbon fiber shafts of Cnoc trekking poles can be used in all four seasons, including the cold of winter. The quality of the carbon fiber tubes from Goodwinds Composites (Mt. Vernon, Washington) was tested and confirmed by Ruckus Composites, a carbon fiber bicycle repair shop in Portland, OR.
“Our poles involve seven different factories and include components from industrial lighting and the automotive industry,” said Cnoc Outdoors founder, Gilad Nachmani.
Making trekking poles in the United States shortens the supply chain, reducing the carbon footprint of each trekking pole. US manufacturing helps balance the trade and budget deficits and reduces local unemployment.
“When you support our poles on Kickstarter, you are supporting American jobs, sustainable manufacturing, and get first dibs at lower prices,” said Lauren Hudgins, Director of Marketing.
Cnoc asked experienced hikers to try out components from several different factories. Final factory selections were made based on performance out on the trail.

The only parts that aren’t made in the United States are the grips, which come from China, made by a Taiwanese company. EVA cannot be made in the US. The cork handles are made of compressed cork. Trekking Poles will be assembled in the Cnoc Outdoors warehouse in Portland, OR.
Kickstarter ends August 14. Delivery of poles begins in October.
