BOULDER, COLO. – Cocona, Inc., the leader in active drying technologies, introduces the Cocona Insulation System (CIS) for outerwear, gloves and sleeping bags. Cocona® linings combine with Cocona® synthetic insulation to create lightweight warm performance in a wide range of activities and temperatures. The Cocona Insulation System is being offered exclusively to Cocona’s licensed brand partners.
Extensive field-testing, verified by in-house lab testing, shows that CIS significantly expands the comfort range. Field testers affirm they can push harder and faster in a wider range of climatic conditions, without noticing what they are wearing. Like all other products engineered with permanent Cocona® Technology, CIS removes moisture by converting liquid sweat to vapor and accelerates evaporation lowering internal humidity. The result is a faster removal of moisture from the clothing, glove or sleep systems.
Insulations and warmth are measured in terms of CLO, originally equated the unit of warmth of one business suit. Third-party testing confirms that Cocona® Technology improves CLO by 50-percent over leading synthetic sport insulations. The higher CLO allows for use of lower weights and thickness at equal warmth, resulting is greater freedom of movement.
Outerwear built with CIS is ideal for high-energy sports, including cycling, running, mountaineering and backpacking where traditional insulation solutions are often overloaded. With an exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio, the lining and insulation work together by reducing the humidity inside during use.
“Insulation, by nature, is engineered to trap heat inside a garment which hinders breathability and holds moisture,” said Alan Lekan, vice president product development, Cocona, Inc. “ The Cocona Insulation System provides an active path through the insulation for condensation to escape quickly and removes the moisture that can cause a chill.“
CIS joins the long list of Cocona’s existing offerings that enhance the performance of synthetic fabrics, merino wool, knits, breathable waterproof coatings and films, footwear linings, and glove inserts for a drier, more comfortable experience head-to-toe.
