BOULDER, Colo. (July 2010) – Descente and coldblack® sponsored athlete, Paul Ambrose took first place in the20th Annual Independence Day Triathlon in Coconut Creek, Florida.Hailing from Australia, 26 year-old Ambrose is a rising star in professional triathlon and races events worldwide. The spectator friendly course consisted of a ¼-mile lake swim, 9.8-mile bike course and a 3-mile run through Tradewinds Park.Ambrose’s times were as follows:swim – 5:11, transition 1 – 00::29, bike – 22:24, transition 2 – 00:39, run – 17:00, with an overall time of 45:43.55 making him first place finisher over all. This win was quickly followed by a 3rd place finish at the 2010 Rhode Island Ironman 70.3 Triathlon with a finishing time of 4:03:0

“What better way to kick off July 4th than to race a triathlon,” said a very contented Paul Ambrose.“What made the day even more special was to win the 20th Annual Independence Triathlon in Coconut Creek. Wearing the Descente Avanti coldblack® tri-suit provided the comfort and ease to race in one of the hottest and most humid climates in south Florida, even during the peak of summer. Wearing my suit helped prevent overheating during the race, which therefore allowed me to concentrate on solely pushing myself as fast as possible, without the extreme burden of the grueling heat.”Ambrose goes on to humbly say, “I felt honored to win on July 4th, even though the US is not my homeland, spending so much time here racing, makes this place a home away from home.”

There is no better test subject for the efficacy of coldblack® than a world-class professional like Ambrose. During training and racing, an athlete is directly affected by core and surface temperatures; but unlike training intensity and frequency, an athlete cannot control how heat will affect performance.coldblack® is helping Paul Ambrose on his quest to be the best.coldblack®, the sun protector-UV reflector, has a two-fold benefit: One, it reduces the absorption of solar rays so that dark textiles, in particular, heat up significantly less when exposed to sunlight. The second benefit is reliable protection from damaging UV rays. Regardless of their color, all textiles with the coldblack® finish feature a UV protection factor of at least 30.xxx
