Colorado Teardrops, specializing in premium teardrop style trailers, is excited to announce that it’s relocating its headquarters to a new building on October 1st, allowing for further expansion as the company grows. The new HQ, located at 1750 55th St. in Boulder CO, accommodates a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing space, sales/marketing/R&D operations, and a newly designed showroom. At 8,000 sq. ft., the new space is double the size of the company’s previous Boulder-based facilities on Central Ave.
Dean Wiltshire founded Colorado Teardrops in Boulder in 2014, with the goal of providing streamlined, durable, and comfortable teardrop style trailers to adventure-seekers of all types. Over the past few years, the company has developed an impressive customer base and impeccable reputation. This year marks a turning point for the company: in June, the company beefed up its sales and marketing team and opened its first-ever seasonal pop-up shop in Denver. In August, Robert Petty, an accomplished IT industry veteran, was named CEO of the company, with Wiltshire appointed as Chairman.

Colorado Teardrops is uniquely positioned in the confluence between traditional campers/backpackers and RVers. Many people who grew up camping using the ‘ubiquitous’ ground tent are now seeking more comfort as they raise families and look to get away more often. But for many, RVs and Sprinter vans are too costly, cumbersome, and challenging to venture off-road.
Colorado Teardrops hits that sweet spot: their trailers are compact enough to be pulled by almost any car, durable enough for off-roads, and competitively priced (models start at $11,300). Each is equipped with a convertible queen-size bed, table, interior cabinet storage, and kitchen galley with space for a stove, cooler, and water tank. There’s also ample customization opportunities such as adding electricity, solar panels, stargazer windows, bunk beds, and more. All cabins are triple insulated for all four seasons and built with an aluminum welded frame to support a number of accessories including roof top tents, awnings, and additional storage.
“I think the early success of our company is due, in part, to the new type of outdoor enthusiast that has emerged in the outdoor and travel industries: those looking to adventure and get off the grid without having to sacrifice convenience and comfort,” says Wiltshire. “Our customers are diverse. In any given week, we’re designing and building trailers for peakbaggers, retirees, weekend warriors, young families – you name it, we serve them. Our trailers are for anyone who wants to escape the crowds and enjoy the outdoors.”
Equipped with ambitious marketing plans for 2019 — including attendance at regional trade shows, consumer events, and enhanced digital marketing strategies — the company is projecting 100% growth in 2019.
“Up until this point, our growth has been mainly word of mouth and organic. We’re extremely excited for our expansion and this next chapter in our business,” says Wiltshire. “Our goal is to continue to offer the highest quality trailers at the best value, and be able to serve more people. We’re building adventures and creating lifelong memories for our customers. It doesn’t get much better than that.”
