EASLEY, S.C. – Confluence Watersports, a family of paddlesports brands active in the whitewater community, proudly supports the conservation efforts of American Whitewater at the 27th annual Gauley Festival in Summersville, W.Va. on Sept. 17-19, 2010.
This year, Confluence brands Dagger, Wave Sport and Adventure Technology are conducting raffles to win new boats and paddles. All proceeds from the raffles will be donated to American Whitewater.
Dagger and Wave Sport will each have a designated booth space with separate raffles to win either a customized Gauley Fest Dagger Green Boat or a Wave Sport boat of choice. The new Wave Sport Project X will be unveiled at the festival and will be included in the raffle prize options. With a completely new look, aggressive performance features and the all-new blazing white outfitting system, this new boat is definitely worth checking out.
Adventure Technology (AT) will be raffling off the new AT Superduty paddle with proceeds from the raffle benefiting American Whitewater. AT will also make an in-kind donation of 15 new paddles for the organization to use throughout the year at their events.
In addition, AT will be teaming up with Girls At Play to kick off the weekend with “Ladies on the Lower Gauley”. This event will take place on Friday, Sept. 17 and will include a short yoga session and an informative paddle selector lesson. Then on Monday, Sept. 20, AT will sponsor the 18th Annual Upper Gauley Race by donating an Adventure Technology paddle as a prize.
AT Paddles featuring full control grip technology will be available for all “Ladies on the Lower Gauley” participants to use and proceeds from the entry fees will benefit American Whitewater.
Gauley Fest began in 1983 to celebrate river protection and play after the dissolution of a hydroelectric power plant that was intended to divert water from the favorite Gauley River. Today, the festival serves as the leading fund-raising event for American Whitewater, a non-profit organization dedicated to river conservation and restoration of America’s whitewater resources.
