Bend, Ore.,– The Conservation Alliance will celebrate its 20th Anniversary at the July Outdoor Retailer show with a party on Wednesday, July 22 at Caffe Molise. The event – co-sponsored by 22 leading member companies – will feature live music and a retrospective of the Alliance’s conservation victories over the past two decades.
“We have a lot to celebrate,” said John Sterling, Executive Director of The Conservation Alliance. “Since 1989 we have helped protect 49 million acres of land and 17,000 miles of rivers; halt or remove 27 dams; and preserve access to five key climbing areas.”
The party will start immediately after the show closes on the 22nd. Portland-based Pictures and Sound, featuring Lucas Reynolds, will be the main act for the evening. The event will also feature the debut performance of the Outdoor Industry All-Star Band featuring Gareth Martins, Timmy O’Neill, Kenji Haroutunian, Todd Walton, Frank Whiting and Berne Broudy.
The Alliance has received permission from the city to close 100 South (the street between the Marriott and Caffe Molise) at 6 PM so that the party can spill out into the street. Throughout the event, there will be a rolling slide show of the many place Conservation Alliance funding has helped to protect.
“In 20 years, we’ve never hosted a party,” said Sterling. “But thanks to our sponsoring member companies, this promises to be a night to remember. We’ve accomplished a lot in 20 years, and the political landscape for conservation has never been this good!”
Co-sponsors are: Black Diamond; CamelBak; Columbia Sportswear; CLIF Bar; Dansko; Horny Toad; KEEN; Kelty; Men’s Journal; Merrell; Mountain Hardwear; National Geographic Adventure; Osprey; OR Show Daily; Patagonia; REI; Teva; The Forest Group; The North Face; Thule; Timex; Cloudveil and Vasque.
The Conservation Alliance 20th Anniversary Party is open to the public. Sponsoring companies will distribute invitations at their booths on July 21 and 22. They will also be available at the Conservation Alliance Breakfast on the morning of July 22.
