On the tail end of Outdoor Retailer, Questival brings the magic of SLC to the masses

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – June 27, 2017

None

Cotopaxi, Benefit Corporation and outdoor gear brand, this year announced the expansion of its ever-popular Questival 24-hour adventure race series to 50 events, including the addition of three Canadian stops, in 2017. The flagship Questival experience, in Salt Lake City, is slated for July 28-29, 2017, at the conclusion of renowned outdoors tradeshow, Outdoor Retailer.

The Questival series promotes team building, immersion in the outdoors, a think-outside-the-box attitude, and a willingness to participate in sometimes-outlandish activities. More so than that, Questival promotes Doing Good, playing off Cotopaxi’s motto to Do Good. At each Questival event, a challenge list of 300+ experiences is designated to teams, made up of two to six participants, that are tasked with creatively completing as many challenges as possible in 24 hours. Whether performing yoga poses or mailing a postcard to a veteran, eating a taco with no hands or climbing a 5.10 route, each team navigates its own unique experience and adventure.

In the brand’s inaugural year of 2104, Cotopaxi has boldly augmented the Questival offerings in response to the overwhelmingly positive feedback and experiences of participants, and as an added effort to drive community engagement and social awareness. In 2014, just over 1400 people participated in the inaugural Salt Lake City Questival. 2015 saw just over 1600, and 2016 was just over 3000.

As the first-ever venture-backed Benefit Corporation, Cotopaxi focuses on social impact and encouraging adventure and sustainable outdoors experiences. Poverty alleviation and targeted grants are at the forefront of its resource allocation, and Cotopaxi aims to advance health, education, and livelihoods initiatives around the world. From sustainably sourced products, repurposed materials, and product lines specifically designed with particular community or agricultural support in mind, a purpose-driven philosophy permeates all of Cotopaxi’s operations, including the Questival event series.

Points collection and task completion are tracked in real-time using The Questival App, available for iPhone or Android. Each participant receives a Cotopaxi Luzon pack ($40 value), a unique team totem, swag items, and samples from event sponsors. A kickoff party at each location includes music, food, giveaways, and community-driven experiences. Prizes for winning teams at each location may include travel vouchers, Cotopaxi gear, outdoor equipment, and additional prizes from sponsors.

The Questival Salt Lake City kickoff event is JULY 28-29th, 2017 and is open to the public.
