New Batch of Small, Handcrafted Brands to be Showcased in CRAFT @ SIA
SnowSports Industries America(SIA), the snow sports industry’s member-owned trade association, announced this week that booth space has sold out for CRAFT @ SIA, a special exhibit area at the 2015 SIA Snow Show (Jan. 29 – Feb. 1). Last year, the Snow Show debuted CRAFT @ SIA– a communal exhibit area dedicated to small, handcrafted ski and snowboard manufacturers.
“We received such great feedback from last year’s CRAFT @ SIA – it became an energetic hub that people were buzzing about throughout the Show. It was a no brainer to bring it back again for 2015,” commented SIA’s Director of Sales & Membership Chris Semon.
Craft brands or independent, smaller ski and snowboard manufacturers represent about 5 percent of the hard goods market. And, as a
small/start-up brand incubator, CRAFT @ SIA proved to be successful in 2014. In fact thirty percent of last year’s brands will return to CRAFT and several opted to upgrade to a traditional booth space on the show floor.
Two of those returning brands are Big Wood Ski, from Sun Valley, Idaho and Marhar Snowboards based in Grandville, Michigan.
“It’s great for smaller brands, like us, who are looking to expand without having to do a full booth area. It was an awesome learning experience allowing us to get a feel for how the industry as a whole works and taught us the ‘do’s and don’ts’ of how to present ourselves,” commented Nathan Morse, Co-Founder, Marhar Snowboards.
“CRAFT @ SIA was such a great support for the boutique ski and snowboarder makers last year. Not only did they provide a beautiful display, but a killer location. Really, we were treated with such respect, it definitely made an impact on us and we’ll keep returning,” said Bex Wilkinson, public relations and sales rep for Big Wood Ski.
On the networking/social side of things, attendees are invited to stop by the area for Craft Brew Nights on Friday and Saturday during Snow Show, where craft beers will start flowing at 5PM.
The current list of CRAFT @ SIA exhibitors include7 Mile Skis, Big Wood Ski, Cantakerous Snowboards, DOWP, Snowboard Group,Franco Snowshapes, Follett Snowboarding Co., GROM Co Snowboards, L2R Snowboards, Marhar Snowboards,RENOUN Ski Company, Rodin, Sego Skis,Vishnu Freeski.
Snowboard and ski companies interested in participating in the CRAFT display at a future SIA Show should contact: Chris Semon, Director of Sales & Membership at Chris@snowsports.org.
