Crescent Moon Snowshoes Sponsors Inaugural XTERRA Steamboat Snowshoe Race Series

Boulder, CO — (Jan. 7, 2014) — Crescent Moon, pioneers in the design and creation of handcrafted, high performance snowshoes, is proud to sponsor the inaugural XTERRA Steamboat Snowshoe Series. The three race series takes place January through March 2014 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Each race series features three courses, including a kids and family race where those new to the sport can demo Crescent Moon Snowshoes.

For the competitive runner, the series includes a 5K and 10K race for racers to test their endurance in a low-pressure environment. Winners of each age group in the 10K series will receive free entry into XTERRA’s Trail Running National Championship scheduled at Snowbasin Resort in Utah, September 2014. Crescent Moon Snowshoes will provide its high performance racing snowshoes for the event, as well as demos of the company’s newest carbon framed snowshoes, the lightest racing snowshoes on the market.

Snowshoe running and racing has grown exponentially in recent years among endurance athletes and recreationists alike. It’s the perfect cross training sport for runners and cyclists looking to maintain and improve aerobic fitness, since running or walking in the snow increases the heart rate faster than on dry ground.
