This year, America celebrates the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System Act as well as the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. Crown Trails Headwear is excited to announce a licensing agreement with the Partnership for National Scenic Trails and the Wild and Scenic Rivers System to produce a collection of limited edition hats featuring the 50th Anniversary logos celebrating these historic events.

In 1968 President Johnson signed into law both the National Scenic Trails Act and the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. These two landmarks pieces of legislation created protection for both our trails and river systems in the U.S and gave federal resources towards the protection of both.

As the Act stands today, as amended, National Scenic Trails are described as extended trails of more than 100 miles in length that provide for outdoor recreation and “for the conservation and enjoyment of the nationally significant scenic, historic, natural, or cultural qualities of the areas through which such trails may pass.” For more information visit www.trails50.org.

Of the approximately 3.6 million miles of streams in the U.S., less than one quarter of one percent – 12,734 miles – are protected by the Wild & Scenic Rivers Act. These miles include some of the most primitive and breathtaking landscapes in North America. There is still much work to do, and many more miles to protect. For more information visit www.rivers.gov/wsr50/.

Crown Trails Headwear has a unique business model in which it gives a portion of all sales back to the non-profit partners with whom they work to help them manage and protect the natural resource, and the 50th Anniversary hats will be no different. The limited edition collection of hats and beanies will be available in early 2018 through Crown Trails Headwear’s current retail channels as well as the brand’s online store. Partnership for National Scenic Trails and the Wild and Scenic Rivers will also offer the hats for sale through their online partner channels.

The 50th Anniversary baseball, trucker and bucket hats and winter beanies range in price from $20 to $28. For more information, contact Whitney LaRuffa, National Sales Manager, at 503-545-2613 or whitney@crowntrailsheadwear.com.
