MEDWAY, Mass.–Cybex International, Inc. (NASDAQ: CYBI) – a leading manufacturer of premium exercise equipment for the commercial and consumer markets, announced today CYBEX pink treadmills from coast to coast logged one quarter of a million (250,000) miles and raised more than $50,000 for breast cancer research and local programs for breast cancer survivors.

As part of a month-long promotion with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), CYBEX pink treadmills ran at varying speeds in fitness clubs and YMCA’s across the country throughout October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. CYBEX launched the Pink Ribbon Run and pledged a donation for every mile logged on the first-ever pink treadmills and, in doing so, promoted the importance of exercise and its impact in reducing the risk of breast cancer and preventing recurrence.

“It was inspirational to hear stories from breast cancer survivors and their family members across the country and particularly how this program motivated walkers, sprinters and even marathon runners to get on the pink treadmill and raise money for the cure,” states Joan Carter, CYBEX Executive Director of the Pink Ribbon Run. “The clubs and fitness centers approached this month-long promotion with such gusto and creativity that we were pleasantly surprised with the end tally and the cumulative mileage that was logged on the pink treadmills.”

Participating Clubs used the pink treadmills for member walk-a-thons and other promotions. Many of the clubs matched CYBEX donation as part of their fundraising efforts. Some raffled off the pink treadmill while others will keep them in place for future promotions. A portion of the monies raised went to local programs.

In Richmond, Virginia, Victory Lady Fitness had 10 pink CYBEX treadmills running at high speeds and encouraged members to walk 40, 50 and even 60 miles throughout the month of October to win prizes.

“The Pink Ribbon Run was a great promotion to educate club members and the general public on the importance of exercise and its role in reducing the risk and recurrence of breast cancer,” states Ron Hemelgarn, owner of Victory Lady Fitness, Super Fitness, and Super Fitness DAMAS. “It rallied our members and communities to partake in a great cause and it was an awareness and morale builder on so many fronts.”

About The Breast Cancer Research Foundation®

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® was founded in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder as an independent, not-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to funding innovative clinical and translational research. The Foundation supports scientists at top universities and academic medical centers worldwide conducting the most advanced and promising breast cancer research that will lead to prevention and a cure in our lifetime. A minimum of 85 cents of each dollar donated to the Foundation goes directly to breast cancer research and awareness programs. In October 2008, $34.5 million was awarded to 166 scientists across the United States and in Australia, Canada, Latin America, the Middle East, and throughout Europe. And for the eighth consecutive year, BCRF received Charity Navigator’s highest rating, four stars, thus outperforming over 99% of the evaluated charities, while the American Institute of Philanthropy has awarded BCRF its highest possible rating of A+. BCRF is the only breast cancer organization in the U.S. to receive these accolades. For more information, visit www.bcrfcure.org or call 1.866.FIND.A.CURE.
