GREENVILLE, S.C. – Dagger, Adventure Technology, and Bomber Gear are sponsoring the 2012 Canadian Freestyle Kayak Team Trials, taking place August 16-18. Joining forces with Rapid Magazine, Whitewater Ontario, and AO Boatwerks, these three Confluence Watersports brands lend their support to the trials, which will determine the men’s, women’s, and junior Canadian Freestyle Kayak Team for the upcoming year.
In addition to the overall sponsorship, Dagger, Adventure Technology, and Bomber Gear provided the event with raffle prizes and swag for door prizes that will be given out to spectators. Dagger-branded tees were also donated for event volunteers to wear.
“We are proud to be sponsoring the Canadian Team Trials for 2012,†said Jessica Prescott, marketing communications manager for Confluence Watersports, parent company of Dagger, Bomber Gear, and Adventure Technology. “The trials bring together the best freestyle kayakers in Canada and fosters a level of competition that can push the sport of kayaking to the next level. At Confluence, we are inspired by athletes immersed in and committed to their sport, so we could not be more excited to partner with this event.â€
The Canadian Freestyle Team Trials will take place at a new, more accessible location this year at Earl’s Hole on the Gull River near the Minden Wildwater Preserve in Minden, Ontario. Due to the spectator-friendly venue, coordinators are expecting larger-than-usual crowds throughout the event. The location will also be used in 2014 for the PAN AM games.
Qualifying heats for all categories will take place on Friday, August 17, at Earl’s Hole. The top athletes from each category will compete in the finals on Saturday, August 18, which will be followed by an awards ceremony and a party to celebrate the new Canadian Freestyle Kayak Team.

About Adventure Technology:
In 1993, an idea for the first, whitewater-specific, ergonomic paddle was borne. That idea grew into Adventure Technology® (AT), a paddle maker who doesn’t seek to “balance†adventure with technology, but rather seeks to push both concepts to the outer limits. AT now delivers premium whitewater and touring paddles known for excellence in design, craftsmanship and innovation. In 2009, AT joined the rest of the Confluence Watersports family in Greenville, S.C., to continue its legacy of dedicated research and development, all in the name of a good adventure. About Bomber Gear:
Bomber Gear® was founded in Durango, Colo. in 1992, by expert kayaker Rick Franken. Franken bought his first sewing machine because he and a small group of adventure-seeking friends needed better gear. Better gear that let them push the limits and perform at their best while staying warm, dry and comfortable. The goal was to design and manufacture task-specific paddling gear that worked for everyone. Today, Bomber Gear is a premium, authentic paddlesports brand that continues to specialize in the design of performance whitewater skirts and technical paddlesports apparel.
