EASLEY, S.C. (June 7, 2011) – Dagger is the “Official Paddling Sponsor” of this year’s Outside in Aspen, a weekend of outdoor adventure that kicks off June 10 in Aspen, Colorado. This event marks the second stop on Dagger’s Rocky Mountain tour, after an exciting weekend in Vail at the Teva Mountain Games.

Outside in Aspen is an opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to share in adventure with elite athletes and Outside Magazine personalities. Days are filled with outdoor play and challenge. Nights are all about the parties. Dagger is proud to sponsor the celebration of active living and show support for an event where adventure sports come together. Featured activities include: kayaking, rock climbing, mountaineering, stand-up paddle boarding and road biking.

“We’re excited to support Outside in Aspen this year,” said Cheri McKenzie, Chief Marketing Officer of Confluence Watersports, parent company of Dagger. “It’s an impressive gathering of outdoor industry icons – in a world class resort – who share in our multisport enthusiasm. The event epitomizes our brand philosophy by encouraging everyone from novice to expert to get out and find their perfect adventure. Dagger supports and encourages a broad spectrum of outdoor lifestyles, as does Outside in Aspen. We’re proud to be a sponsor.”

Four kayak trips will take place throughout the weekend: a beginner trip led by Dagger designer Snowy Robertson, an outfitter-led trip with Charlie MacArthur of Aspen Kayak Academy, an intermediate trip led by Ben Stookesberry and an advanced level kayak trip led by Team Dagger’s Brad Ludden. Ludden also is a featured speaker at the athlete symposium on Sunday.

Ludden and Dagger designer Snowy Robertson will kick off the weekend with a demo in the pool at Sky Hotel’s Welcome Party on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. They also will host a free “paddle with the pros” session on Sunday from 8:00 a.m.- 10:00 a.m. Stop by to hone your skills or learn a new trick!

Dagger will have an exhibition tent at the Adventure Basecamp and will be raffling off an Approach 10.0. All proceeds will benefit the non-profit First Descents, an adventure therapy camp for young adults battling cancer.
