GREENVILLE, S.C. (May 1, 2013) – Dagger sponsored the most elite freestyle kayaking competition in the US this weekend, drawing the best kayakers from across the country to vie for a spot on the US National Freestyle Team. The top finishers from the Team Trials will compete in the ICF Canoe Freestyle World Championships in September.

The Team Trials, hosted by Nantahala Outdoor Center, are a high-profile preview to the Canoe Freestyle World Championships. Two Team Dagger athletes, the current Freestyle World Champion James Bebbington and Max Karlsson (competing for Sweden) will represent Dagger at the World Championships, which will also be held on the 2013 Wave on the Nantahala River.
“Dagger strives to always push the limits of adventure and take kayaking to the next level in everything we do,” said Jessica Prescott, marketing manager for Dagger. “We were excited to support the most elite freestyle kayaking event in the U.S. and are very proud of the Team Dagger members who represented us at the highest level of competition.”
As part of the celebration, Dagger also hosted friendly competitions and clinics throughout the weekend. The Dagger RPM Stern Squirt Clinic and Competition took place on Saturday, giving paddlers the opportunity to learn stern squirt techniques from Team Dagger’s Pat Keller and win an iconic Dagger RPM.
Dagger participated in a panel at the NOC Ladies’ Night. The panel featured female kayakers, including Team Dagger athlete, Anna Levesque, and Dagger marketing communications associate, Shannon Christy. Levesque and Christy answered questions about confronting fear, competition, and working and paddling in a male-dominated sport.
Event attendees had the opportunity to see the latest Dagger kayaks, including the new Jitsu freestyle kayak in the Dagger demo tent at the Nantahala Outdoor Center.
