–The Sock Capital of the World continues to produce the best–
NORTHFIELD, VT—Darn Tough Vermont, American manufacturer of the only premium, performance socks with an unconditional lifetime guarantee, will be kicking ass and taking business cards at the 2012 Outdoor Retailer Winter Show in Salt Lake City, UT (booth #31149W). Incredible market support has allowed the company to make infrastructure upgrades, including new knitting machines and staff, at its family owned and run Vermont hosiery mill throughout 2011. With this growth, Darn Tough continues to expand color and style selections across all six specialty sock categories. In addition to new men’s and women’s lifestyle socks, two highlighted additions to the company’s vast sock line include a complete restyling of the quarter-length Hike/Trek socks and a new ultra-light ski sock fittingly named “The Fang.â€
“Making socks is my family’s passion, which is why we make every pair here in our Vermont hosiery mill just as we have for over 30 years,†said Ric Cabot, founder and president of Darn Tough Vermont. “With continued growth expected in 2012, we’re looking forward to strengthening our claim as the sock capital of the world; no other town designs, tests and knits better socks than the people here at Darn Tough. While our product line continues to grow with every OR show we attend, the focus remains on quality, not quantity.â€
Darn Tough’s thru-hiker tested signature sock, the quarter length Cushion Hike/Trek sock (1401), remains ahead of the pack in 2012. These newly restyled socks are all business up front; functionality always comes first. High-density cushioning on the bottom of the foot is paired with a non-cushioned top of the foot for all-day comfort, breathability and moisture management. Fine gauge Merino wool yarns wick moisture and naturally regulate temperature in both hot and cold conditions. The new look takes Darn Tough’s signature mountain logo off the sides of the sock and moves the party to the back. The theme for these new socks is to wear your heart on your sleeve and your pride on the back of your ankles, where it will leave a lasting impression on hikers wearing inferior footwear.
In the ski and ride category, Darn Tough Vermont is unleashing The Fang at the OR and SIA shows – an Ultra-Light Merino wool ski sock featuring True-Seamlessâ„¢ knitting technology. Don’t feed this little beast of a sock after midnight, because you’ll ruin its incredibly snug and foot-conforming fit, which results in an exceptionally responsive interface between foot and boot. True-Seamless toe closure finishes the sock with a virtually undetectable toe seam to eliminate hot spots and blisters in even the tightest fitting ski boots. The high-density Merino wool knitting keeps your feet warm and comfortable without unnecessary bulk filling your boot and slowing your edge-to-edge response. With an unconditional lifetime guarantee and Vermont-made pedigree, The Fang is nothing to be afraid of, unless you’re not wearing it.
“Our entire line of socks, from our signature hiking socks to our women’s lifestyle collection, are the result of several decades of sock innovation and refinement that begins and ends here in Vermont. Our athletes test the socks in conditions all across the globe and we can implement feedback into our production line instantaneously,†said Cabot. “Every addition and refinement to our sock line is done deliberately, based on customer feedback, advances in technology and design and the single goal of making the world’s best sock, here in Vermont.â€
