Descente North America signs athlete Morganne Murphy

DESCENTE ADDS TOP RANKED SKI CROSS ATHLETE TO TEAM

LAYTON, UTAH, October 10, 2011 – Descente North America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Osaka, Japan based Descente Ltd. today announced that they have inked a sponsorship deal with top ranked US Women’s Ski Cross athlete, Morganne Murphy.

A Truckee, California native and high school senior, Morganne began skiing at 22 months and won her first championship at age seven. She has since gone on to compete in a variety of alpine and freestyle disciplines with significant podium finishes.

“Descente competition wear is engineered to help great athletes become phenomenal athletes,” said Brook Barney, head of Product Development/Marketing for Descente North America. “Morganne is a very talented skier with a bright future ahead of her. Descente is ready to help take her to the next level.”

According to Morganne, Descente’s history of innovation in winter sports apparel was a key factor in her decision to work with the company. “A lot of the technology that’s used throughout the race wear industry was developed by Descente. They’ve always been leaders in the field.”

Morganne currently holds the number one ranking for US women in Ski Cross. Other notable finishes include: 2011 US Combined Champion at J2 National Ski Championships; 2010 US Junior Ski Cross Championship and a gold medal in Ski Cross at the 2010 USASA National Championship.
