DESCENTE AND CANADIAN NATIONAL SKI CROSS TEAM RENEW UNIFORM CONTRACT
RICHMOND, British Columbia – August 8, 2011 – Descente North America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Osaka, Japan based Descente Ltd. today announced they have renewed their contract with the Canadian Ski Cross team to be the official uniform supplier.
Descente has been the official uniform supplier for the Canadian Ski Cross team since 2008. The contract renewal will extend the agreement for three years, through the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
“Ski Cross is a relatively new sport so the science of ski cross uniform design is new as well,†said Monty Khandal, Head of Canadian Business Operations for Descente. “Descente relishes the opportunity to use our technical expertise to engineer ski cross uniforms that will set the bar for performance standards now and in the years to come.â€
Descente designers have worked closely with the athletes and coaches of the Canadian Ski Cross team on perfecting the fit and function of the official uniform.
“Descente has been an exceptional partner to the Canadian Ski Cross team for the past three years. They have made certain that our athletes and staff are wearing quality and functional competition wear,†said David Ellis, director, Canada Ski Cross. “Descente’s research and development work has ensured that Canadian Ski Cross athletes remain some of the fastest athletes in the world. Olympic and multiple World Championship titles have been due largely in part to the partnership with Descente.â€
The Canadian Ski Cross team finished the 2010-2011season with an impressive record. Team member Kelsey Serwa won the World Championship while teammate Julia Murray took second place. Chris Del Bosco won the men’s World Championship and took second at the X-Games. The team ended the season as winner of the Crystal Globe as the top team on the World Cup circuit with a total of 14 podium finishes.
